Opera Experience

This is a three-part educational experience linked to each VO mainstage production. In the week before the performance, a guest speaker, a pianist and a singer travel to your school classroom, speaking about and performing excerpts from the upcoming opera, and presenting a brief “Opera 101” session covering the production and its development.

On performance day, students travel to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, are given a one hour tour of the full theatre complex, including rehearsal rooms, costume/make-up areas and going on-stage to view the production’s set and technical equipment. Following dinner, (a personal responsibility), students and teachers return to the theatre where their Opera Experience culminates with attending the performance, sitting in the first three rows of the theatre. The cost for the complete Opera Experience package is $35 per person (tax included).
