Operabot Animation Contest Closes Monday Feb. 28th!

Once again, Vancouver Opera is giving you the chance to create an animated short based one of this season's operas: La Traviata. All entries will be screened at a public event, and the winner chosen by representatives from Vancouver's leading animation houses and game developers. The winning short will be featured at VO performances of La Traviata this spring. We'll also have great tech prizes for the first-place winner and runners-up.

Prizes:
First Prize: Wacom CINTIQ 21UX (value: $1,999 USD) and Toon Boom Animate PRO (value: $1,999 USD)

Second Prize: Wacom Intuos4 Wireless (value: $400 USD) and Toon Boom Animate (value: $699 USD)

Third Prize: ToonBoom “Animate” (value: $499 USD)

Your animation must be minimum thirty seconds and maximum two minutes in length. There are no restrictions as to style, sound or depiction. You are not required to use music or sound from the production depicted, but we will have rights-cleared audio clips available for you to use free of charge.

How to Submit your Operabot Animation

1. Post your work on YouTube
2. Email Doug Tuck, VO's Director of Marketing and Community Programs, and let him know.
3. We’ll grab your entry into a playlist on our YouTube Channel!
