Vancouver Opera Foundation
Our mission is to show leadership, stewardship, and philanthropy in the Vancouver community through support of Vancouver Opera.

A Gift Today Is A Gift That Lasts
We invite you to make memories possible for future generations through support of the Vancouver Opera Foundation.
Gifts to the Foundation may be held in perpetuity, earning interest and dividends that are used to support young artists and artistic programming at the Opera.
Your gifts today are gifts forever to future generations of artists and opera lovers.
Why Give Today
Many donations received are matched by a program through Canadian Heritage. Last year's match was $0.71 for every eligible dollar. With your gift and this match, the Foundation can grow bigger faster!
With markets down around the world, this is a unique opportunity for institutional investors to make purchases of long term value. With an investment horizon far exceeding that of the individual investor, Vancouver Opera Foundation can receive your donation and enjoy significant gains on investments that may be currently undervalued.

Frequently Asked Questions

Donors are recognized in performance programs and Foundation annual reports. Charitable tax receipts are issued for all eligible donations.
How much should I give? Is there a minimum?
All donations of any size are welcome. Philanthropy is contagious.
What happens to my money?

Your gift is added to a balanced portfolio of investments overseen by the Vancouver Opera Foundation Investment Committee and a firm engaged to manage the Foundation's investments.
Does the Foundation accept securities?
Yes, call us and we'll give you info on how to do that.
Planned Giving
2012 marks the 10th year of the Amatori dell'Opera ("lovers of opera"), a group of individuals who have made the decision to leave a legacy to VO. Since the inception of Amatori, we have received 14 bequests from devoted opera lovers, both modest and substantial, which have supported VO with almost $1,000,000.
Including VO in your estate planning will help celebrate and sustain this special art form for future generations of opera lovers.
Joining Amatori is easy. There are a variety of ways to make such a gift, many with significant tax advantages to you and your family. Discuss it with your family and any legal and financial counsel you may have, and contact Carmen Murphy (604-331-4832) for more information.
